The Knife of Never Letting Go by: Patrick Ness

Title: The Knife of Never Letting Go
Author: Patrick Ness
Pages: 496
Published: May 5th, 2008

Prentisstown isn't like other towns. Everyone can hear everyone else's thoughts in an overwhelming, never-ending stream of Noise. Just a month away from the birthday that will make him a man, Todd and his dog, Manchee -- whose thoughts Todd can hear too, whether he wants to or not -- stumble upon an area of complete silence. They find that in a town where privacy is impossible, something terrible has been hidden -- a secret so awful that Todd and Manchee must run for their lives.
But how do you escape when your pursuers can hear your every thought?

Review:
When Todd is forced to leave his town, the world he knows is flipped upside down. Especially when he finds a mysterious girl in the woods. How is this possible? The entire female race was obliterated by the Spackle, an evil alien race. All Todd knows though, is that people are after him and that he has to outrun them.

I think I know where The Maze Runner got it's inspiration.
I liked The Knife of Never Letting Go. It was a good book. The plot was well thought out and kept me interested. It took me a while to get into it though, but it soon became fast paced.
One thing that bothered me was that the girl refused to talk for about half the book. Seriously, why? Todd is obviously having a hard time, and you aren't making it any better by not talking.
Another thing that bothered me was Todd's temper. He pretty much lost it about 30 times. I found myself skimming those parts.
I think the next book will be better, only because I was confused for most of the book. There were many secrets that were revealed at the end that made me understand better and the second book will probably play off those revealed secrets a lot more.
I'm excited to finish reading this series, and I'm glad I don't have to wait for the next book.

Oh! I almost forgot. This book has a lot of cursing. I'm not opposed to a good placed curse, so it didn't bother me.
